A message from Charles Best, Founder and CEO of 99Papers.org:
To our supporters, teachers, and friends:
Ten years ago, I was teaching history at a high school in the Bronx. Over lunch, my colleagues and I would talk about books we wanted our students to read, science experiments we wanted them to perform, field trips that would bring subject matter to life—all sorts of things that dedicated teachers want for deserving students. We spent our own money on paper and pens, but mostly, we saw our students going without the resources they needed to learn. So we created 99Papers.org.
What began as a philanthropic experiment has since channeled $57 million in materials and experiences to classrooms across the country. Over 3 million students are now learning more each school day, and over 100,000 teachers are flourishing as they see their classroom dreams realized.
All thanks to you.
As you can see from the photo, we’re pretty excited about turning ten. We hope you’ll help us celebrate by:
- Joining the corporate challenge. Companies like Build-A-Bear and others will be offering special match funding to projects around the date of 10/10/10. We are still looking for a few more supporters; email tenyears(at)99Papers(dot)org if you or someone you know would like to take part.
Thank you again for everything you’ve done to make 99Papers.org a great place to help kids in public schools.
