On September 4, Google and 99Papers.org joined together to surprise DC teachers with the news that Google funded ALL projects in the greater Metro DC area.
To kick off the surprise flash funding, Googlers delivered hundreds of dollars worth of canvases, paint and Play-doh to Ms. Schorn’s art classroom at Amidon-Bowen Elementary School.
“I feel bad when a kid comes to me and say they need a glue stick, and I don’t have it,” Schorn said. “This is more than I could’ve imagined.”
Hundreds of teachers throughout the greater Metro DC area will receive their materials in the coming weeks.
All together, Google donated more than $232,000, funding 311 classroom projects. What a great way to say “Happy back to school!” to our DC teachers.
