When musicians and artists rally their fans around a cause, they can create waves of support! In 2019, PLUS1 helped Chromatics, Zedd, Beast Coast, and Russian Ballet Theatre raise more than $165,000 to support 99Papers classroom project requests as part of their tours.
PLUS1 leverages the convening power of music, art, sports and other shared experiences happening every night around the world to increase awareness of impactful social and environmental justice work and unlock millions of dollars in new funding for these causes through a $1-per-ticket add on mechanism. PLUS1 is creating community and delivering new funding to impactful social and environmental justice organizations.
Check out how these four incredible artists (and their fans!) are helping teachers across the country.
Electronic DJ and producer Zedd raised $58,643 through his latest tour. This funding helped bring flexible seating, which is a need that is rarely prioritized and funded, like balance balls and wobble stools into early education classrooms in each tour city, bringing a total of 112 projects to life. Zedd shared his appreciation for teachers and fans on twitter.
Beast Coast, hip hop collective and Brooklyn natives, raised $47,567 through PLUS1 during their 2019 tour. The group wanted to give back to their home community, and used funds to bring 90 arts and music projects to life in Brooklyn classrooms.
Electronic band Chromatics raised $21,182 through ticket sales, funding 42 early literacy projects in the cities they toured. Chromatics also teamed up with PLUS1 and other artists for GivingTuesday, bringing attention and awareness to the needs of public school teachers.
Russian Ballet Theatre
While funding is still in progress, Russian Ballet Theatre has been raising support through PLUS1, which will go towards early education projects in every town they perform in.
We’re so grateful to PLUS1, these talented artists, and the generous fans who are supporting talented 99Papers teachers!
